After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • MONDAYS

    Ballet/Tap/Acro at Village Dance
    Partnered with Village Dance - you must sign up through Village Dance to participate
    Pre-K I & II: 2:45 - 3:45 PM
    Kindergarten: 3:45 - 4:45 PM
    Dates: All school year when Village Dance is in session
    Cost: $150 (for us to walk them over and/or pick up for the school year)

    St. Mark’s will help your dancers get dressed into their ballet outfits, walk them to Village Dance, and, if returning to St. Mark’s, pick them up at the end of their class. Please indicate whether you will be picking up from Village Dance or your child will be returning to St. Mark’s

    Preschool:  Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics.

    Basketball
    St. Mark's Episcopal Day School offers Basketball for players in 3rd grade through 6th grade. Our Basketball teams compete in the North Florida Independent School Athletic Conference where our student athletes practice once/twice a week and have one game per week with a Tournament at the end of the season.

    The S4 Sports Academy is the premiere after school sports program in Jacksonville Florida.  Students will be exposed to a variety of sports activities, drills, and games. They focus on the Big 4 Sports (football, baseball, basketball, and soccer).  All levels of experience and ability are welcomed. Their enthusiastic, experienced coaches will guide this multi-sport program to provide a SAFE and FUN environment for students to play sports and improve upon their athletic skills.  All equipment provided by S4.  
     
     
  • TUESDAYS

    St. Mark’s Choristers 
    Grades: 2nd - 6th

    Dates: August 27 – May 12 (when school is in session)
    Location: Church Choir Room
    Cost: Free  (Limited space, please call James Holyer, 388-2681)
    Children are invited to join St. Mark’s Choristers, the church’s children’s choir program. They rehearse Tuesday afternoons after school and must be available to sing for the 11 AM service at the church two Sundays a month (usually the 1st & 3rd Sundays), although church membership is not required. This is a great group that has a lot of fun learning about making music together.
     
    Make-N-Take 
    Grades: PK I - 2nd
    Instructor: Ms. Lucy Bolt
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 PM
    Dates: August 20 - October 22 (when school is in session)
    Location - Room 14
    Maximum 12 students
    Cost: $100 plus $20 supply fee

    Come join Ms. Bolt as you make a new craft each week and you get to take some home with you! Some of the fun projects include: slime, snow, play doh, moon doh and many more.

    "GIG - Guys Inspiring Guys"
    Grades: 5th and 6th grade guys (maximum 20 students)

    We live in a culture that encourages competition and praises coming out on top. GIG offers an opportunity for guys to gather for games while also reaping reminders about sportsmanship, teamwork and encouraging one another. Guys will glean valuable insight through fun experiential education activities while making transformational memories together during this formative stage in their development. In a nutshell, we will have a blast bringing out the best in one another!

    FALA Spanish Classes with Cooking, STEM – Lego Boost, Soccer and Art!
    Grades: PKI & PKII
    Time: 2:15 - 3:00

    If you are ready to open the world of endless possibilities for your child, come learn Spanish by playing and having fun at FALA. At FALA you will find all of the fun clubs in one club! Children will learn and test their Spanish through fun STEM activities, Cooking, Art, and Soccer. We will travel the world with Vernie the robot as he helps us to code in Spanish; we will also explore and embrace Spanish culture as we discover some famous artists, and inventors. Your children will improve problem solving, multitasking, creative skills, self-confidence and experience enhanced brain development as they are learning Spanish.
    Give your child the gift of knowing a second language and watch them take Spanish to the next level!

    Little Geniuses is a chess-song singing, laughing, dancing, clock-slapping, zany chess video, puppet show introduction to chess. For children ages 3-5, Little Geniuses puts on a high-energy, 45-minute chess practice in which kids earn brightly-colored silicone wristbands and look forward to our 22 daily activities. Kids report chess class to be the favorite part of their week because they find our developmentally targeted thinking activities compelling, exhilarating, gratifying and FUN!

    Ortega now has girls lacrosse! This 10-week clinic series will focus on the fundamentals of girls lacrosse: throwing, catching, shooting, and field play. Each player will gain experience in all positions while learning speed and agility in a fun way! Equipment needed: mouth guard, girls’ lacrosse stick, and lacrosse goggles. Learning cool poses, techniques to quiet the mind, and skills to manage big emotions are some of the awesome things your child will work on in a safe environment. More importantly, we'll laugh and relax by playing fun games, singing, dancing, and making new friends. We do more than pose. We play!"

    Let’s sell lemonade! Join us for this fun class, where you will learn how to make yummy lemonade and raise money for charity!  Students learn about marketing, finance and strategy in a supportive environment fostering teamwork. From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, young students will have fun while developing business savvy. Students work in grade-based teams on age-appropriate activities and donate profits to a charity when they launch their lemonade stand!

    Start off your children's learning with amazingly fun science and engineering projects! Shsssh !! You're kids won't even know they are learning, they'll be having so much fun!
    Our littlest of engineers will develop critical thinking skills and gross motor skills through our hands on and challenging yet age appropriate lessons. The children will focus on Robotics, LEGO (R) construction and Chemical and Aerospace Engineering this session. All sessions are 45 minutes in length.
     
    Junior Engineers 
    Grades: Kindergarten - 6th
    Instructor: Ms. Maja with Engineering for Kids

    Come join Engineering for Kids for hands on fun STEM projects. Shsssh….!! You're kids won't even know they are learning, they'll be having so much fun! Children will learn the Engineering Design Process Cycle, basic scientific and engineering concepts, teamwork and critical thinking skills in these age appropriate but challenging lessons. In our awesome Junior Club we will focus this session on LEGO (R) Robotics, Civil, Marine and Aerospace Engineering. All classes are 1 hour long and follow the various State and National Science Standards for Elementary school-aged children.
