After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • MONDAYS

    Masters of Innovation 
    Grades: 2nd - 6th 
    Maximum number: 16
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 (when school is in session)
    Dates: November 4 - February 3

    Come and learn how innovation has changed the way we live. Students gain a historical perspective and develop a forward-looking mindset. Classes analyze recent cool innovations and look ahead, all along emphasizing the importance of thinking creatively. Topics include:
    • Creative destruction and disruption
    • Smartphones: pre- and post-iPhone
    • Self-driving cars
    • Technology focus: Artificial intelligence (AI)
    • Innovative industries and companies
    • Top 10 innovations
    • What will the future bring?

    S4 Sports Academy
    Grades: Kindergarten - 6th
    Time: 3:30 - 5:00 PM
    Dates: November 4 - February 3 (when school is in session)
    Cost: $175
     
    The S4 Sports Academy is the premiere after school sports program in Jacksonville Florida.  Students will be exposed to a variety of sports activities, drills, and games. They focus on the Big 4 Sports (football, baseball, basketball, and soccer).  All levels of experience and ability are welcomed. Their enthusiastic, experienced coaches will guide this multi-sport program to provide a SAFE and FUN environment for students to play sports and improve upon their athletic skills.  All equipment provided by S4. 
     
    Flag Football 
    Grades: 3rd - 4th (Boys & Girls)
    Practices: Mondays & Wednesdays 3:30 - 4:45  
    Games: Mondays 4:30 & 5:15
    This sport will begin after Christmas break
    $200

    Our teams practice twice a week during the season, until games begin, when we reduce practice to once per week along with the added game day. Our flag football teams compete in the NFISAC and have an end-of-season tournament against other schools in the league.
     
    Volleyball 
    Grades: 4th - 6th 
    Practices: Monday & Tuesday 3:30 - 4:45
    Games: Thursdays 5:00 or 6:00  
    This sport will begin after Christmas break
    Cost: $200
     
    The St. Mark's Volleyball program provides a fun environment for students in Grades 4-6, where student athletes can learn the basics of volleyball and compete in the NFISAC. Students practice twice a week, along with a game once a week. The team will compete in an end-of-season tournament against the other schools in the league.
     
  • TUESDAYS

    Music, Music, Music!
    Grades 1st - 4th

    Students will have the opportunity to play ukuele, guitar and hand drums while exploring rhythm and group music playing. They will learn about songwriting and have the opportunity to perform during a Friday Chapel. This class will serve as a perfect primer for those with no previous music and will expand the pallets of those who have some music experience

    FALA Spanish Classes with Cooking, STEM – Lego Boost, Soccer and Art!

    If you are ready to open the world of endless possibilities for your child, come learn Spanish by playing and having fun at FALA. At FALA you will find all of the fun clubs in one club! Children will learn and test their Spanish through fun STEM activities, Cooking, Art, and Soccer. We will travel the world with Vernie the robot as he helps us to code in Spanish; we will also explore and embrace Spanish culture as we discover some famous artists, and inventors. Your children will improve problem solving, multitasking, creative skills, self-confidence and experience enhanced brain development as they are learning Spanish.Give your child the gift of knowing a second language and watch them take Spanish to the next level!

    Sign up today for Paper House and Dolls (PhD). Come and spend some time with friends cutting paper dolls, paper clothes and building/decorating a box house for your dolls. At the end of this season you can take your creations home and start a new journey of creativity and fun. Bring old magazines, newspapers and even catalogs or brochures if you have some. We will begin an amazing journey into a timeless hobby. Snack will be provided. Sign up today for Winter Season!

    Grades: 4th and 5th grade guys joined by 6th Grade Mentors

    Cost: $100 plus $20 supply fee
     
    We live in a culture that encourages competition and praises coming out on top. GIG is an opportunity for guys to gather for activities with an intentional focus on sportsmanship, teamwork and encouraging one another. Guys will walk away with valuable insight gleaned through fun games and exposure to inspirational role models as they affirm one another along the way. In a nutshell, we will have a blast bringing out the best in one another!

    Children are invited to join St. Mark’s Choristers, the church’s children’s choir program. They rehearse Tuesday afternoons after school and must be available to sing for the 11 AM service at the church on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month.

    Little Geniuses (Chess)
    Grades: PKI & PKII

    Little Geniuses is a chess-song singing, laughing, dancing, clock-slapping, zany chess video, puppet show introduction to chess. For children ages 3-5, Little Geniuses puts on a high-energy, 45-minute chess practice in which kids earn brightly-colored silicone wristbands and look forward to our 22 daily activities. Kids report chess class to be the favorite part of their week because they find our developmentally targeted thinking activities compelling, exhilarating, gratifying and FUN!

    K-6th  Knight School (Chess)

    A time for girls to gather and live out the GIGGLES acronym by Growing together, Loving unconditionally, Empathizing sincerely and Serving unselfishly. Through team building games and service learning opportunities girls will walk away with a greater appreciation of themselves and others.

We will sure enjoy having conversations about little treats we can give our hair, nails and skin to make them look clean, healthy, and age appropriate fashionable.     Balanced Kids
    Grades: PK I & II

    "Kids yoga helps kids become peaceful and focused in a busy world. Balanced Kids is an engaging practice that helps your child build mindfulness, resilience, and confidence. Learning cool poses, techniques to quiet the mind, and skills to manage big emotions are some of the awesome things your child will work on in a safe environment. More importantly, we'll laugh and relax by playing fun games, singing, dancing, and making new friends. We do more than pose. We play!"

    Be The Light Dance Company is coming to St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School.  Get ready to tumble with Mrs. Nesia and Ms. Danielle as they teach proper skills and techniques for gymnastics.  No experience is needed. From the conditioning and flexibility warm up to flip time on the mat, your children will step into weekly classes designed for their individual skill level.  Don’t miss out on the fun.     Start off your children's learning with amazingly fun science and engineering projects! Shsssh !! You're kids won't even know they are learning, they'll be having so much fun! Our littlest of engineers will develop critical thinking skills and gross motor skills through our hands on and challenging yet age appropriate lessons. The children will focus on Robotics, LEGO (R) construction and Chemical and Aerospace Engineering this session. 
     
    Junior Engineers 
    Grades: Kindergarten - 6th

    Come join Engineering for Kids for hands on fun STEM projects. Shsssh….!! You're kids won't even know they are learning, they'll be having so much fun! Children will learn the Engineering Design Process Cycle, basic scientific and engineering concepts, teamwork and critical thinking skills in these age appropriate but challenging lessons. In our awesome Junior Club we will focus this session on LEGO (R) Robotics, Civil, Marine and Aerospace Engineering. All classes are 1 hour long and follow the various State and National Science Standards for Elementary school-aged children.
