For the 40 years, St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School has held the Ortega River Run. A Grand Prix sanctioned event, this is a great event for the whole family. Proceeds benefit the financial aid and scholarship program at the school. 

Race Features

  • Run the historic 40-year course over bridges and along tree-lined streets!
  • Medals given to all 1-mile and 5-mile finishers.
  • Shirts for all one-mile and five-mile runners. You must pick up at designated locations prior to race day to guarantee shirt availability.
  • Large and lively family Street Fair at start/finish with food, activities, give-a-ways, and special guests.
  • Fun & Fit Zone with bounce house and sport activities for kids.
  • Strollers welcome (must start at back of race).

Start:
 Both races start from the same location in front of the school on Ortega Blvd. The five-mile race will have 2,000+ runners and walkers participating. Please line up according to your ability. No children on the front line in the five-mile race. Dogs are not permitted; strollers must be at the end of the race.

Finish: Both races finish in front of the school. The five-mile race will be using My Laps Bib/Tag Champion Chip timing. Chips will be affixed to your race bib. You must cross timing mats at the start and finish for a net time.

  • Spaghetti Dinner

    A Spaghetti Dinner is available during the packet pick-up at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School on Friday, February 23, from 5-7:30 p.m. Cost is $6 per dinner and can be added to your race payment or you can pay at the door. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. A vegetarian option is available. To-go containers will be available.
  • Pre-Race Pick-Up

    Join us at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School from 5-7:30 PM on Friday, February 23, for spaghetti and shirt pick-up! Shirts are also available for pick up on Thursday, Feb. 22 and Friday, Feb. 23, at all 1st Place Sports locations. All shirts not picked up at these locations by 2 p.m. on Friday, February 23, will be moved to St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School, and will be available to pick-up from 5-7:30 p.m., and again starting at 7 a.m. on the day of the race. Please indicate your preferred pick-up location on your registration form.
  • Awards

    Medals will be awarded to all registered One Mile AND Five Mile finishers as they cross the finish line. An awards ceremony will be held at approximately 10 a.m.  Awards will go to the top three men and women overall, top masters male and female, and to the top three finishers in the following male and female age groups:

Directions to the Race Site

St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School is located at 4114 Oxford Avenue, at the intersection of Ortega Boulevard.
  • From the South: Take Highway 17 (Roosevelt Blvd.) north from I-295 five miles to Ortega Blvd., which is located one block north of Timuquana Rd., on the right. The school is about three miles on your left.
  • From the North: Take Highway 17 (Roosevelt Blvd.) south from I-10 six miles. Turn left on Columbus Circle, turn right onto Baltic Street. Continue around Cortez Park – taking the third right onto Oxford Avenue.
