After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • Mondays

    Cooking With Kids
    K - 3rd graders with Mrs. Tedi Hamilton
    Maximum: 12 students
    Monday: Time 3:30 - 4:30 PM

    Cost $100 plus $30 supply fee
    Join Mrs. Tedi Hamilton for fun with food. We will create fun and delicious treats. We will incorporate fruits and veggies into our list of yummy treats. Cooking can be fun, creative, and full of discovery.

    2nd & 3rd Grade Soccer
    2nd & 3rd Grade students with Coach Taylor

    Come join Coach Taylor for soccer fun! Students will gain knowledge of rules and strengthen their skills, all while playing fun games and exercises.

    GIG: “Guys Inspiring Guys"

    We live in a culture that encourages competition and praises coming out on top. GIG is an opportunity for guys to gather for games with an intentional focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, and encouraging one another. Guys will walk away with valuable insight gleaned through fun activities and exposure to inspirational messages as they affirm one another along the way. In a nutshell, we plan to have a blast bringing out the best in one another!

    PKI & PKII Wrestling Camp

    Please join Coach Lance & Coach Brendan in this fun wrestling camp. Coach Lance was a 2008 graduate of the Bolles School where he was a 3x state placer as well as a college wrestler. He is the program director of Episcopal wrestling and co-founder of River City Wrestling Factory, a non-profit organization to teach the youth of Jacksonville through the sport of wrestling. The purpose of this camp is to help introduce the sport of wrestling to young children in a fun atmosphere. Wrestling is a sport that builds confidence, teaches discipline and self reliance. Through the use of tumbling and strength building exercises, wrestling helps to develop overall athleticism.

    3rd - 4th Grade Girls Book Club

    Please join Mrs. Gallagher as together you explore the joys of participating in a book club. The books will focus on friendships, strength of character, and developing empathy. There will be fun activities to go along with each of the books as well.

Little passengers will learn mapping skills, explore Earth's treasures, discover wonders of the world, examine weather and climates, and grow global awareness through hands-on activities, creations, and experiments. Engaging content is offered at each age group; all materials provided!

    Debate Club
    5th - 6th grade with Ms. Osborn

    Debate club will emphasize respect for classmates and encourage healthy debates amongst one another. Discussions will include topics such as education, sports, technology, philosophy, and current events. Through games and assorted exercises, each week students will learn how to research and present an argument, and then respond to the arguments of others. Our last session will include an official debate open to parents and faculty members and will mimic the format of debates at the High School level. Learning how to debate at this age can improve a student’s critical thinking skills and self-confidence levels. Being able to argue logically is a skill that will follow a student through the rest of his or her career in academia.

    This session GIGGLES will enjoy exploring Kari Kampakis’ new book, Liked: Whose Approval Are You Living For? We will touch on topics such as seeking the approval of others, social media, and fostering friendships. We will gain tools to help navigate these tween years while also becoming better equipped to enter middle school. In traditional GIGGLES fashion, we will cover these topics while weaving in lots of fun activities and laughter along the way.

    PK Knight School (Chess)

    The Knight School is coming to St Mark's Episcopal Day School and our Chess Team wants you! Beginners are welcome. Join Coach Reb Phillips as we laugh and train in daily mardi-gras bead chess tourneys, compete for prizes in our daily music-driven chess puzzlers, and watch zany chess movies. There has never been a party-based approach to chess like this. Our high-energy chess classes are developmentally and cleverly targeted directly at the pre-kindergarten age group. Come join the fun as kids learn to love learning, learn that they are unspeakably smart, and learn how to absolutely cream their parents in chess!

    Spring into Robotics

    Interested in learning about Lego Robots?  In Spring into Robotics we will design, build, and program lego robots to do fun tasks like shoot a basket or feed a gorilla. No need for any prior experience - this session is for kids wanting to learn! If your child is interested in Fall team robotics this would be an excellent time to see what robotics is all about without the team competition.  

    Boys Book Club

    Lego Engineering 101
    For K - 3rd graders with Mrs. Tedi Hamilton

    Come create and build! We will build cars, race them on a track, and find out which one is faster and why. The group activities will encourage team building skills. Other projects include space, buildings, houses, towers, and on and on.

    Join the co-ed St. Mark's Soccer Team! We will compete against teams from several other area independent schools. Coach Taylor will lead the team helping players become more knowledgeable about rules and help to build skills.

    Mini Great Artists

    DIY FUN

    Lacrosse
    3rd - 6th grade with Ms. Osborn

    Over ten weeks players will gain confidence in throwing, catching, and shooting with lacrosse sticks. Players will learn how to run drills as well as the basic rules of the game. Lacrosse is a fast-paced, exciting game that encourages teamwork and teaches self-discipline. No experience required and all equipment will be provided.
