After School Programs

After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • MONDAY

    Ballet/Tap @ Village Dance
    Pre-K I & II 2:45 - 3:45
    K 3:45 - 4:45
    Partnered with Village Dance/Must sign up through Village Dance to participate. St. Mark’s will help students get dressed into their ballet outfits, walk them to Village Dance, and if returning to EDP pick them up at the end of their class. Please indicate whether you will be picking up from Village Dance or your child will be returning to EDP.
    Preschool:  Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics.
    Kindergarten:  Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics.

    4th - 6th Girls Basketball
    4th - 6th grade girls with Coach Joyner
    Monday & Tuesday 3:30 - 5:00 PM - practice when school is in session
    Games: Thursday @ 5:00 PM - starting week of 9/11
    Location: Berg Field or Commons
    Cost $200 (includes uniform - please indicate size shirt & shorts)
    All 4th - 6th grade girls are invited to join the St. Mark’s Girls Basketball Team for the fun and competitive Fall NFISAC (Northeast Florida Independent School Athletic Conference) season. We will practice learning the fundamentals and strategies of the game on Mondays and Tuesdays and compete against other schools on Thursdays (home and away games). Join us and be a Lady Lion!

    Fioretto Fencing Academy
    K - 6th grade students
    Maximum 20 students
    Monday 3:30 - 4:30
    Aug 28 - November 13  (when school is in session)

    Cost $175 (all equipment will be provided by the instructors)
    Fencing is an active sport that develops both physical and mental strength, as well as speed and agility. It is a fun and energizing sport that is great exercise for children of all ages and abilities. Must wear closed toe shoes to participate.

    Crafty Cubs

    Come join Mrs. Bransford on Tuesday afternoons to make some fun age appropriate make and take crafts.

    Cooking With Kids
    K - 3rd graders with Mrs. Tedi Hamilton
    Maximum 12 students
    Tuesday: Time 3:30 - 4:30 PM

    Cost $100 plus $30 supply fee
    Join Mrs. Tedi Hamilton for fun with food. We will create fun and delicious treats. We will incorporate fruits and veggies into our list of yummy treats. Cooking can be fun, creative, and full of discovery.

    Choristers
    Grade 2 - 6 with James Holyer

    Children are invited to join St. Mark’s Choristers, the church’s children’s choir program. They rehearse Tuesday afternoons after school and must be available to sing for the 11 AM service at the church on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month.
     
    Coding with Bots
    Offered by: Sarah Chitwood
    Day/Time:  Tuesdays 3:30-4:30

    Location: Innovation Lab
    Group Size Limit: 12
    Age Range: 1st-4th grade
    Cost: $100 plus $20 supply fee
    Get ready to meet Wonderbot Dash and his sidekick Dot along with the Ozobots, Ozmo, and other robo friends!  Learn to program these robots using iPad coding apps and sensors as we instruct the bots to travel the room, navigate obstacles and mazes, play games, and even dance and play music--all based on the commands you write using code!  Whether you have experience coding with robots or this is your first time meeting the bots, you’ll soon be teaching Dash, Dot, and all their friends all kinds of creative actions as we send them on missions to complete a variety of challenges; you can even teach them to respond to the sound of your own voice!  Participating in these robo activities is not a commitment to join the St. Mark’s Robotics team later on, but it will help you know if more Robotics and coding fun are in your future, and the bots think that once you meet them and start playing with them alongside your friends, you won’t want to stop!

    First  grade teacher, Ms. Claire Pulignano will be leading the K - 3rd grade Lion’s Cheer Team. Join us to learn fun cheers, chants, and routines.

    FALA Spanish Classes

    Come learn Spanish by playing and having fun! We are thrilled to offer FALA Spanish After School Classes at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School. FALA offers a unique program which incorporates fun science projects, general culture, reading and writing, art, physical and intellectual exercises that give children a fun experience with activities that makes learning Spanish exciting. Your child will explore and embrace Spanish culture as they discover Picasso, Salvador Dali, and other famous artists and inventors. Classes are taught by native Spanish speaking instructors.     St. Mark’s Robotics Team

    What:
    Join the St. Mark's Robotics Team as we partner with the First LEGO League in solving a real world scientific challenge. The challenge has three parts: the Robot Games, the Project, and Core Values. Students will learn to program a robot to score points on a themed playing field. Students will be engaged in research to propose a solution to a problem they have identified under the umbrella of the scientific challenge. They will participate in group challenge activities using Core Values techniques. This year's First LEGO League challenge will be centered around hydrodynamics.

    The Knight School is coming to St Mark's Episcopal Day School and our Chess Team wants you! Beginners are welcome. Take the plunge and join Coach REB Phillips as we laugh and train in daily mardi-gras bead chess tourneys and compete for prizes in our daily music-driven chess puzzlers and watch zany chess movies. There has never been a party-based approach to chess like this. Our high-energy chess classes are developmentally and cleverly targeted directly at the pre- kindergarten age group. Come join the fun as kids learn to love learning, learn that they are unspeakably smart, and learn how to absolutely cream their parents in chess!

    Come create and build! We will build cars, race them on a track, and find out which one is faster and why. The group activities will encourage team building skills. Other projects include space, buildings, houses, towers, and on and on.

    Need help with organizing assignments? Not sure how to keep track of all your work? Come learn some tried and true strategies for time management and organization that will help your child now, and as they prepare for middle school.

    It is never too early to learn good manners. These lifelong skills will help children be confident and polite.
    The activities would focus on: conversations with peers and adults, greetings (handshake etiquette), telephone etiquette, correspondence (writing thank you notes), behavior in everyday situations, and dining.
