After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • MONDAYS

    Ballet/Tap with Village Dance Center
    Grades: PK I & PK II and Kindergarten
    Time: Mondays, 2:45 - 3:45 PM (PK I & II)
             Mondays, 3:45 - 4:45 (Kindergarten)

    We have partnered with Village Dance Center located in the Shoppes of Ortega at 2923 Manitou Avenue in their offering of Ballet/Tap with a combination of Acrobatics. You must sign up for this offering through Village Dance to participate. Classes for Pre-Kindergarten I & II students are on Mondays weekly from 2:45-3:45, and Kindergarteners attend from 3:45-4:45.

    St. Mark's will help your child get dressed into their ballet outfits, walk them to Village Dance, and -- if returning to our campus for the Extended Day Program (EDP) -- pick the children up at the end of their class. 

    Please indicate whether you will be picking your dancer up from Village Dance Center or if your child will be returning to campus for EDP.



    Junior CEOs with SPARK Business Academy
    Grades: 4 - 6
    Maximum: 16 students
    Time: Monday, 3:30 - 4:30 PM
    August 27-November 12 (when school is in session)
    Cost $200 

    How cool would it be for you to be the CEO of Apple or Amazon for a day? In this leadership class, you can! Students act as CEOs for leading companies and work in groups to make strategic recommendations to address real business issues, including how to manage a crisis. Students enhance their problem-solving skills, develop business savvy, and cultivate a strategic mindset as future leaders. Case studies include Apple, Under Armour, Amazon, Tesla, Coke, and more!



  • TUESDAYS

    My First Lemonade Stand with SPARK Business Academy  
    Grades: K - 3
    Maximum: 16 students
    Time: Tuesday, 3:30 - 4:30 PM
    August 28 - November 12 (when school is in session)
    Cost $200 

    Let’s sell lemonade! Join us for this fun class, where you will learn how to make yummy lemonade and how to earn money selling it! Fun sessions empower students with an entrepreneurial mindset for their lemonade stand in a supporting environment fostering teamwork. From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, young students will have fun while engaging in enriching activities with a lasting developmental impact. Students work in teams and donate profits to a charity when they launch their lemonade stand!


    Cooking With Kids
     with Mrs. Tedi Hamilton
    Grades: K - 3
    Maximum: 12 students
    Time: Tuesday, 3:30 - 4:30 PM
    August 28 - November 12 (when school is in session)
    Cost $100 plus $30 supply fee

    Join Mrs. Tedi Hamilton for fun with food. We will create fun and delicious treats. We will incorporate fruits and veggies into our list of yummy treats. Cooking can be fun, creative, and full of discovery.


    St. Mark's Choristers with Mr. James Holyer at St. Mark's Church
    Grades: 2 - 6 (Limited space -- Please call James Holyer at 388-2681 to confirm.)

    August 28 - May 14 (when school is in session)
    Location: Church Choir Room 
    Cost: FREE
     
    Children are invited to join St. Mark’s Choristers, the church’s children’s choir program. We rehearse Tuesday afternoons after school and they must be available to sing for the 11:00 AM service at the Church on the first & third Sundays of each month, although church membership is not required. This is a great group that has a lot of fun learning about making music together.


    Jr. Lion's Cheer Team with Coach Claire Pulignano
    Grades: K - 4
    Maximum: 20 students
    Time: Tuesday, 3:30 - 4:30 PM; Cheer Game Dates TBA
    August 28 - October 30 (when school is in session)
    Cost $110 (includes t-shirt)

    First grade teacher, Ms. Claire Pulignano, will be leading the Kindergarten - 4th grade Jr. Lion’s Cheer Team. Join us to learn fun cheers, chants, and routines.




  • WEDNESDAYS

    Little Geniuses (Chess) with Dr. Brooks and Coach Al
    Grades: PK I & II
    Maximum: 16 students
    Time: Wednesday, 2:15 - 3:00 PM
    August 29 - October 31 (when school is in session)
    Cost $165 (includes chess set* and t-shirt)

    Little Geniuses is a chess-song singing, laughing, dancing, clock-slapping, zany chess video, puppet show introduction to chess. For children ages 3-5, Little Geniuses puts on a high-energy, 45-minute chess practice in which kids earn brightly-colored silicone wristbands and look forward to our 22 daily activities. Kids report chess class to be the favorite part of their week because they find our developmentally targeted thinking activities compelling, exhilarating, gratifying and FUN!

    * If chess set previously purchased through the Knight School's Little Geniuses, please register for the offering totaling $130.


    Knight School with Dr. Brooks and Coach Al
    Grades: K - 6
    Maximum: 32 students
    Time: Wednesday, 3:15 - 4:30 PM
    August 29 - October 31 (when school is in session)
    Cost $190 (includes chess set* and t-shirt)

    The Knight School chess approach is a unique, revolutionary, high-energy chess classes, replete with fast, clock-slapping chess games, a dizzying array of super-fun chess activities, hilarious instruction, a strict bully-free environment, silicone wristbands for tactics mastery, puzzlers for candy, driving music, exhilarating weekly tactical lessons, and Mardi-Gras-bead chess tournaments every single day!     LEGO Engineering with Mrs. Tedi Hamilton
    Grades: K - 3

    Come create and build! We will build cars, race them on a track, and find out which one is faster and why. The group activities will encourage team building skills. Other projects include space, buildings, houses, towers, and more!

    Let's Get Ready to Tumble! (Beginner Gymnastics/Acro Classes) with Mrs. Nesia and Ms. Danielle
    Grades: PK I & II
    Maximum: 16 students
    Time: Thursday, 2:15 - 3:00 PM
    August 30 - November 1 (when school is in session)
    Cost $185

    Be The Light Dance Company is coming to St. Mark’s. Get ready to tumble with Mrs. Nesia and Ms. Danielle as they teach proper skills and techniques for gymnastics. No experience is needed. From the conditioning and flexibility warm-up to flip time on the mat, your child will step into weekly classes designed for their individual skill level. Don’t miss out on the fun. Sign up today!

    Conquering Carle with Crafts

    Dive into the world of author Eric Carle as we paint, craft, collage, and enjoy the colorful pages of his classic storybooks. Brown Bear, Brown BearThe Very Busy SpiderThe Grouchy Ladybug, and The Mixed-Up Chameleon are just a few of the stories we will enjoy together.

    Pre-K Martial Arts with Sensei Tina from Michael Lee’s Dojo
    Grades: PK I & II
    Maximum: 18 students
    Time: Friday, 2:15 - 3:00 PM
    September 1 - November 17 (when school is in session)
    Cost $165 plus $50 (includes choice of white or black uniform*, a t-shirt*, and a customized drawstring backpack). 
    * Please indicate color and size. 
     
    Must complete consent form to participate.
