After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • Mondays

    Fioretto Fencing Academy
    K - 6th grade students
    Maximum 20 students
    Monday 3:30 - 4:30
    March 5 - May 21(when school is in session)
    Location: Music room
    Cost $175 (all equipment will be provided by the instructors)
    Fencing is an active sport that develops both physical and mental strength, as well as speed and agility. It is a fun and energizing sport that is great exercise for children of all ages and abilities. Must wear closed toe shoes to participate.

    2nd -3rd Grade Soccer
    2nd & 3rd Grade students with Coach Taylor

    Location: Berg Field or Commons
    Cost $100
    Come join Coach Taylor for soccer fun! Students will gain knowledge of rules and strengthen their skills, all while playing fun games and exercises.

    Cooking With Kids
    K - 3rd graders with Mrs. Tedi Hamilton
    Maximum 12 students
    Tuesday: Time 3:30 - 4:30 PM

    Cost $100 plus $30 supply fee
    Join Mrs. Tedi Hamilton for fun with food. We will create fun and delicious treats. We will incorporate fruits and veggies into our list of yummy treats. Cooking can be fun, creative, and full of discovery.

    FALA Spanish Classes with STEM Activities

    Cost: $225 plus $15 supply fee
    Come learn Spanish by playing and having fun! FALA offers a unique age appropriate program which incorporates fun STEM projects, Lego Boost (K- 6th grade) art, music, physical and intellectual exercises that help children to learn and retain Spanish by applying it to different subjects. FALA’s classes give children a fun experience with activities that makes learning Spanish exciting. Your child will explore and embrace Spanish culture as they discover some famous artists and inventors. Classes are taught by native Spanish speaking instructors. Prepare your child for the future!

    Lions Jr. Cheer
    K-3rd Grade with Coach Pulignano

    March 6 - May 15 (When school is in session)
    Cost: $110
    Limit: 20 students
    First grade teacher, Ms. Claire Pulignano, will be leading the Kindergarten - 3rd  grade Lion’s Cheer Team. Join us to learn fun cheers, chants, and routines.

    4th - 6th Grade Soccer Team
    4th - 6th grade with Coach Taylor
    Tuesday/Thursday Practices: 3:30 - 4:45 PM
    March 6 - May 15 (when school is in session)
    Games: Tuesday @ 5:00 PM starting in April

    Join the co-ed St. Mark's Soccer Team! We will compete against teams from several other area independent schools. Coach Taylor will lead the team helping players become more knowledgeable about rules and help to build skills.

    Building with Bots (Coding with Bots Part 2)
    Must have previously taken Bots 1 to participate

    Day/Time:  Tuesdays 3:30-4:30
    March 6 - May 15 (when school is in session)
    Location: Innovation Lab
    Group Size Limit: 12
    Age Range: Kindergarten-4th grade   
    Cost: $100 + $20 supply fee
    Activity Description: Now that you know how to code the bots, we will use that programming knowledge to code more complex missions using the Cleverbots/Wonderbots from Coding with Bots Part One along with some new robo friends who speak other programming languages!  Along with programming the bots to complete new challenges, we will also create attachments to assist the bots in these missions and even build some bots and programmable electronics from scratch to see how they function.
    *Participation in this activity is not a commitment to join the St. Mark’s Robotics team later on, but we do hope you discover that you love programming just as much as the official St. Mark’s First Lego League team!

    The Knight School is coming to St Mark's Episcopal Day School and our Chess Team wants you! Beginners are welcome. Take the plunge and join Coach Al as we laugh and train in daily mardi-gras bead chess tourneys and compete for prizes in our daily music-driven chess puzzlers and watch zany chess movies. There has never been a party-based approach to chess like this. Our high-energy chess classes are developmentally and cleverly targeted directly at the pre- kindergarten age group. Come join the fun as kids learn to love learning, learn that they are unspeakably smart, and learn how to absolutely cream their parents in chess!

    PKII now welcome to participate in Legos for the Spring session! Come create and build! We will build cars, race them on a track, and find out which one is faster and why. The group activities will encourage team building skills. Other projects include space, buildings, houses, towers, and on and on.

    "GIG - Guys Inspiring Guys"
    4th, 5th and 6th Grade Guys are welcome with Mrs. Katherine Nott

    We live in a culture that encourages competition and praises coming out on top. GIG is an opportunity for guys to gather for activities with an intentional focus on sportsmanship, teamwork and encouraging one another. Guys will walk away with valuable insight gleaned through fun games and exposure to inspirational role models as they affirm one another along the way. In a nutshell, we will have a blast bringing out the best in one another!

    After a structured day of learning, pre k I and pre k II students could use a break to jump around and get some wiggles out! This activity will have kids up and moving while learning a few new moves. Dancing benefits early development on every level, so why not have fun while also improving gross motor skills, endurance, and brain function? I will utilize music that they know and love, while also hopefully teaching a new song or two. This class is perfect for all pre k students, no matter their dance experience. Whether your child has a passion for performance or is secretly singing that soundtrack in their car seat, this is a great activity for them

    A time for girls to gather and live out the GIGGLES acronym by Growing together, Loving unconditionally, Empathizing sincerely and Serving unselfishly. Through team building games and service learning opportunities girls will walk away with a greater appreciation of themselves and others.

    Conquering Carle with Crafts

    Dive into the world of author Eric Carle as we paint, craft, collage, and enjoy the colorful pages of his classic storybooks.Brown Bear, Brown Bear, The Very Busy Spider, The Grouchy Ladybug, and The Mixed-Up Chameleon are just a few of the stories we will enjoy together.

    Come work on your own personal portfolio in preparation for middle school. This class is for those art students who want to sharpen their art skills independently.

    We have one hour when desks become carriages, and pony tails become beautiful curls for our wonderful K through 3rd grade princesses. Enjoy our Beauty Salon Class where you will be able to learn how to do make-up, nails, and Mrs. Garces will give you a hairdo to go home with. Join us for the best time of the week!
