After School Programs

After School Activities

Children are unique, and so are their interests! St. Mark’s After School Activities are available to students who want to further a specific interest.

Activities will run throughout the year in three sessions. Sign ups will be available on this page below the descriptions for the two weeks prior to the start of the activities. All instructors have been fingerprinted, background checked, and have taken Safeguarding God’s Children.

A complete listing of activities and the sign up form will be available two weeks prior to each session. Pro-rated rates are not available if registering after the class has begun.

  • MONDAYS

    Budding Entrepreneurs
    Grades: 4th - 6th 
    Instructor: TBD/SPARK business academy
    Maximum: 16 students
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 PM
    Dates: November 26 - February 11 (when school is in session)
    Location: After School Activities room
    Cost: $215

    If you like “Shark Tank,” this class is for you! Join other intrepid students and lean what it takes to launch your own business. Students build self-confidence while gaining a valuable exposure to the business fields of strategy, marketing, and finance. Students select a “business idea,” learn to develop a business plan and make a “pitch” presentation on the last day. They even create a real website (no coding required) and design their own business cards.
     
    Flag Football
    Grades: 3rd - 4th
    Games - Mondays
    Practices - Mondays (until games begin) and Thursdays

    Our teams practice twice a week during the season, until games begin, when we reduce practice to once per week along with the added game day. Our flag football teams compete in the NFISAC and have an end-of-season tournament against other schools in the league. Registration will be after Thanksgiving for Football and Volleyball .


    Volleyball
    Grades: 4th - 6th
    Practices - Mondays and Thursdays (until games begin)
    Games - Thursdays

    The St. Mark's Volleyball program provides a fun environment for students in Grades 4-6, where student athletes can learn the basics of volleyball and compete in the NFISAC. Students practice twice a week, along with a game once a week. The team will compete in an end-of-season tournament against the other schools in the league.

    Registration will be after Thanksgiving for Football and Volleyball

    Young Diplomats
    Grades: Kindergarten - 3rd

    In today’s increasingly interconnected world, it’s critical for students to develop a global mindset and build international and cultural awareness early in life. Topics include: cultural differences across countries (food, clothing, traditions, languages), world currencies, economic development, current global events, international trade and exchange rates, the role of the internet in globalization.
     
    Cooking With Kids
    Grades: Kindergarten - 3rd
    Instructor: Mrs. Tedi Hamilton
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 PM
    Dates: November 27 - February 12  (when school is in session)
    Location: Room 14
    Cost: $100 plus $30 supply fee
    Limit: 12 students

    Join Mrs. Tedi Hamilton for fun with food. We will create fun and delicious treats. We will incorporate fruits and veggies into our list of yummy treats. Cooking can be fun, creative, and full of discovery.

    Jr. Lions Cheer Team
    Grades: Kindergarten - 3rd 
    Instructor: Ms. Claire Pulignano
    Location: Commons - Foyer
    Time: 3:30-4:30

    First grade teacher, Ms. Claire Pulignano will be leading the K - 3rd  grade Lion’s Cheer Team. Join us to learn fun cheers, chants, and routines.

    "GIGGLES - Girls Inspiring Girls to Grow, Love, Empathize and Serve"
    Grades: 3rd, 4th, and 5th girls
    Instructor: Mrs. Katherine Nott
    Time: 3:30-4:30pm
    Dates: November 27 - February 12 when school is in session
    Location: Youth Center
    Cost: $100 plus $20 supply fee
    Limit: 15 students

    A time for girls to gather and live out the GIGGLES acronym by Growing together, Loving unconditionally, Empathizing sincerely and Serving unselfishly. Through team building games and service learning opportunities girls will walk away with a greater appreciation of themselves and others.


    FALA Spanish Classes with Cooking, STEM, Soccer and Art!
    Grades: PKI & PKII 
    Time: 2:15 - 3:00
    Dates: November 27th - February 12th(when school is in session)

    Come learn Spanish by playing and having fun at FALA where you will find all the fun clubs in one! Your child will learn Spanish through fun STEM activities, Cooking, Art, and Soccer. Children also will improve problem solving, multitasking, creative skill, and experience enhanced brain development as they are learning Spanish. Your child will explore and embrace Spanish culture as they discover some famous artists, and inventors. 

    Give your child the gift of knowing a second language and watch them take Spanish to the next level!

    Little Geniuses (Chess) with the Knight School
    Grades: PKI & PKII

    Little Geniuses is a chess-song singing, laughing, dancing, clock-slapping, zany chess video, puppet show introduction to chess. For children ages 3-5, Little Geniuses puts on a high-energy, 45-minute chess practice in which kids earn brightly-colored silicone wristbands and look forward to our 22 daily activities. Kids report chess class to be the favorite part of their week because they find our developmentally targeted thinking activities compelling, exhilarating, gratifying and FUN!

    Chess with the Knight School
    Grades: Kindergarten - 6th

    Lego Engineering 101
    Grades: Pre-Kindergarten !! - 2nd
    Instructor: Mrs. Tedi Hamilton

    Come create and build! We will build cars, race them on a track, and find out which one is faster and why. The group activities will encourage team building skills. Other projects include space, buildings, houses, towers, and more!


    GIG & GIGGLES
    Grade: 6th Grade
    Times: 3:30-4:30pm
    Dates: November 28 - February 13 when school is in session
    Location: Youth Center
    Cost: $100 plus $20 supply fee

    In response to popular demand, the Sixth Grade Leaders will enjoy an opportunity once a week to Grow, Love, Empathize and Serve as a full grade. Prior to launching to Middle School, these classmates will find this time inspiring, encouraging and fun as we participate in experiential learning activities that emphasizes building one another up and enhancing one's core self confidence.

    The Basics of Cooking
    Grades: 3rd - 6th grade
    Instructor: Chef Christy
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30pm
    Dates: November 28 - February 13 (when school is in session)
    Location: Commons Kitchen
    Cost: $100 plus $30 supply fee
    Limit: 10 students

    Come join Chef Christy as she teaches you the love of cooking. Students will learn about a variety of foods and how to prep and cook a complete meal. Included is learning how to properly set a table. The culminating project at the end of the 10 weeks will be to prep, cook, and serve a complete meal to parents. Closed toe shoes must be worn each week in the kitchen. Aprons will be provided.

    Flag Football

    Be The Light Dance Company is coming to St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School.  Get ready to tumble with Mrs. Nesia and Ms. Danielle as they teach proper skills and techniques for gymnastics.  No experience is needed. From the conditioning and flexibility warm up to flip time on the mat, your children will step into weekly classes designed for their individual skill level.  Don’t miss out on the fun.     We live in a culture that encourages competition and praises coming out on top. GIG is an opportunity for guys to gather for games with an intentional focus on sportsmanship, teamwork and encouraging one another. Guys will walk away with valuable insight gleaned through fun activities and exposure to inspirational male role models as they affirm one another along the way. In a nutshell, we will have a blast bringing out the best in one another!


    Fun With Music
    Grades: Pre-Kindergarten I & II
    Instructor: Ms. Lee Hunter
    Time: 2:15-3:00pm
    Dates: November 29 - February 21 (when school is in session)

    Fun With Music is an entertaining and educational offering for young children. Your child will sing and move with all kinds of music and songs including game songs, songs from the heart of American traditions and some contemporary tunes as well. We’ll learn about music basics such as rhythm, melody and sound. We’ll create hand-made instruments and make music together. We’ll discover and experience music from other parts of the world. Instructor, Lee Hunter, has 25 years of experience teaching private music lessons and traveling the country doing educational outreach for students of all ages.

    Exploring the Wonders of Music
    Grades: Kindergarten - 2nd
    Instructor: Ms. Lee Hunter
    Time: 3:30-4:30pm
    Dates: November 29 - February 21 (when school is in session)

    Exploring the Wonders of Music is an entertaining and educational offering for children grades K-2. Your child will sing, play, move and explore all kinds of music and songs from the heart of American traditions and contemporary songs. We’ll cover music theory basics such as rhythm, melody, harmony and sound. We’ll create hand-made instruments, explore writing our own songs and make music together. We’ll discover and experience music from other parts of the world.
