Recently, Dr. Eric Sauvageau, Neurosurgeon at Baptist Health and father to two students at St. Mark’s, stopped by to provide 6th graders an in-depth look at what he does. Over the past few months, these students have been participating in a mini course “Meet Your Brain” during their study skills period. The students have learned about the different parts of the brain - how to identify them, their function, and how different factors such as technology can affect the brain and ultimately other functions of the human body. Students observed different images of the brain using both MRIs and CT scans, learned about their purpose, heard stories about craniotomies and brain tumors, and even had a chance to handle tools used during brain surgeries. Thank you, Dr. Sauvageau, for sharing your time and expertise with us!
