St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School’s Director of Finance and Operations, Florence Calhoun, has been appointed to the MISBO Board. MISBO's mission is to connect independent school professionals by delivering exceptional value to enrich learning.
Mrs. Calhoun will bring a wealth of professional knowledge and experience to the Board as she has been employed at St. Mark’s for over twenty-two years, active in MISBO for the past nine years, and has been an active member of the Human Resources Advisory Committee for ICUBA (Independent Colleges and Universities Benefits Association) for the past seven years. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. She started her career with one of the global accounting firms and then moved to the corporate headquarters of Georgia-Pacific Corporation.
MISBO (Mid-South Independent School Business Officers) was founded in 1976 by business officers from six Atlanta area independent schools for the purpose of encouraging excellence and creative leadership in their independent schools. As the association moved forward, it developed a purchasing consortium and helped develop policy for a liability insurance program, while continuing to promote best practices and professional development.
MISBO now has more than 340 schools in 18 states throughout the US. The association continues to support business officers in independent schools and now includes all business operations. The purchasing consortium has grown to more than 100 contracts for commonly used goods and services, staffed in-house at MISBO and specifically designed for independent schools.
