For the past ten weeks, 25 third through sixth graders have been gathering after school on Fridays to participate in the inaugural St. Mark's Episcopal Day School Girls on the Run program. On Saturday, April 28, they joined with all the other chapters of Girls on the Run Northeast Florida for a 5K held at UNF. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. Although it was a non-competitive race, we want to congratulate to our 6th grader, Suki B., on her accomplishment of finishing first!

Girls on the Run is so much more than a running club. It is noncompetitive, encourages forward movement, and inspires girls to reach goals. The program also inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident by integrating running (or walking) to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of healthy living and self-respect.
The St. Mark's groups were led by parent volunteer coaches: Marla Anderson, Jordan Eyrick, Amy Summerlin, Suzanne Burhyte, and Laura Magevney.
