On Wednesday, Pre-K II students took a walking field trip through Ortega Village as part of their Community unit. Along the way, they talked about safety rules with crossing streets and sidewalk etiquette, as well as, each business they passed and the role they play in the community. Their stops included the Red Lion Gift Shop, Angels for Allison, Carters Pharmacy, Frazier Jewelers, Trips in the Village Travel Agency, CenterState Bank, Village Dance, Gardner's Florist, and Simply Sara's Restaurant.
While they didn't enter most of the businesses, the gracious staff at CenterState Bank invited students inside to take a peek at the vault and, of course, give them a lollipop. As an extra special treat, Mrs. Smith walked them through the drive-thru teller so they could learn how a check is cashed. Many of the students had never witnessed the process of the tube leaving and returning through the capsule pipeline and were so amazed!
