Alumna to Follow Alumni Brothers to Naval Academy

Annie Pentaleri '11 has been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy and will be rowing Crew. Her brothers, Matthew '09, is currently attending, and Michael '07, will be graduating from the Naval Academy in May.

This year, Annie was elected President of the Bolles National Honor Society, organizing all of the peer tutoring done through NHS, leading quarterly Honors Convocations, presiding over the tapping and induction ceremony of new members, and acting as a role model in the areas of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. She has also been in the top ten percent of her class all four years of high school.

Annie was also the Captain of the Varsity Girls' Crew Team and ran on the Varsity Cross Country Team in the fall along with rowing crew. This past summer, she rowed for a club crew team, PennAC, at the University of Pennsylvania and placed 4th at US Rowing Club Nationals Regatta in both the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 categories.

Voted one of the ten girls on Homecoming Court in October, she won Prom Queen after being voted one of five girls on the Prom Court in early April. 

Annie recently passed the reins of Camp Sunshine, a non-profit summer camp that she co-founded with her friend Sarah Page. After running the camp since her freshman year, she has helped to raise $7,400 for Angels for Allison.  

Michael is graduating from The United States Naval Academy in May. He will be commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy and has service selected to be a Navy Pilot. He is being awarded the Most Outstanding Independent Research Project in Mechanical Engineering during Commissioning Week. Michael will be continuing his research in Mechanical Engineering over the summer and then will start flight training in Pensacola in September.
