Baby Chicks Peep About Spring

Several grade levels enjoyed a special visit from two-day-old baby chickens to learn about how chickens are raised and the eggs we eat are created.

Thank you to second grader, Mason G.'s, family for sharing this experience with our school. His grandparents own Alachua County Feed & Seed, in Gainesville. They provide old-time service and advice for pet, garden, fertilization, and livestock needs.

During the spring, they sell over 300 baby chicks each week to families who raise chickens to produce eggs. Mason's grandmother spoke to many of the classes in Pre-K through second grade, sharing how the chicks are hatched and grow to become egg laying hens.
