Welcome to Plimoth Plantation

First graders traveled back in time to the 17th Century to "live" in the Plimoth Plantation.

In 1620, Miles and Rose Standish played a leading role in the colonization of Plimoth. At St. Mark’s, first graders have pretended to be this couple and many other families, learning about what it would have been like to be a pilgrim.

Each first grader was assigned the role of an actual settler, and proudly wore that pilgrim’s name on a tag around their neck. They learned about the families, the hardships, and the freedom of religion they were seeking.

In culmination of their studies, students re-created the Plimoth Plantation homes out of sticks and cardboard, and are proudly displaying them in the lobby of the Lori Schiavone Commons.
