Pre-Kindergarten years are busy and exciting, with the children rapidly developing through their daily experiences and interactions in the world. At St. Mark’s, we utilize each child’s natural curiosity to drive their desire for learning and to promote growth in all areas of development. Our developmentally appropriate approach to exploring each fascinating topic of childhood learning incorporates learning in the following domains:
  • intellectual
  • social
  • physical
  • spiritual, and
  • emotional

  • Intentional Environments

When you visit our Pre-Kindergarten Program, you’ll experience first-hand how St. Mark’s is leading the way in preschool education and why we’re a top choice among parents in Jacksonville. We provide low student-teacher ratios in each class, creating a superb classroom environment. Each class has a degreed, certified teacher, as well as a qualified teaching assistant. Our small class sizes and expertise of our faculty allow us to connect with each child and challenge them to new goals.

Our preschool classrooms and playgrounds are child-centered, designed for safety and exploration, and provide opportunities for social and physical development. Recognizing the importance of the outdoors, we dedicate time each day to explore these spaces. We also visit several unique classrooms on our campus as part of our resource program, which includes Art, Chapel, Computer, Library, Movement, Music, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. Come see for yourself! We invite you to schedule a tour with Kelly Risdon, our Director of Enrollment.
  • Class Options

Children (who must be age three by September 1st of the current school year to be eligible for our Pre-Kindergarten I program) may be enrolled to come to our program either three or five days each week.

Our Pre-K II students (who must be age four by September 1st of the current school year) attend a five day program.
  • Extended Day

We offer Early Morning Care available starting as early as 7:15 a.m., with the school day officially starting at 7:55 a.m.. You can also choose from several dismissal options, including noon for our half-day students, 3:15 p.m. alongside our elementary school community, or through 6:00 p.m. for those needing extended care.

Students staying for lunch will also take a nap during their time with us. After their rest period, organized activities are planned for them on a rotating schedule, similar to our elementary students’ Electives Program. Those who stay beyond 3:15 p.m. will experience additional projects, play, and an afternoon snack. There are also several opportunities throughout the year for the Pre-Kindergarten students to be involved in our After School Activities, including Ballet, Cooking with Kids, LEGO Engineering 101, Martial Arts, Soccer, and more!

We don’t stop at the academic year, though! Pre-Kindergarten children are welcome to enroll in our Camp CREATE Summer Program available during the nine weeks of summer.
